Jiangsu Saiteng Co., Ltd. completed a controlling stake acquisition of Optima, a Japanese semiconductor testing equipment company, through a “two-step” strategy: it first acquired a 67.53% stake in 2019, followed by a subsequent capital injection of 0.73 亿元, ultimately investing a total of 2.37 亿元 to hold a 75.02% stake.

Optima specializes in wafer defect detection and exposure equipment, with a customer base that includes major international manufacturers such as Samsung, TSMC, and SK Hynix. Following the acquisition, Saiteng integrated its AI vision technology with Optima’s wafer-level inspection algorithms to successfully launch high-end inspection equipment for HBM and 3D ICs. In 2024, the company successfully entered Samsung’s HBM3 production line, becoming the first Chinese supplier of defect detection equipment to an international memory giant. Through this acquisition, Saiteng has evolved from an “Apple supply chain automation equipment provider” into a high-end semiconductor equipment platform. The proportion of overseas revenue in its semiconductor business has risen from 0% to 38%, while the target company’s net profit CAGR reached 45%, making this a successful case study of Chinese capital acquiring high-end manufacturing assets in Japan.
